Our family is a milk family. My Grandpa was a dairy farmer and some of my best childhood memories are of time spent on the farm.

I loved being in the barn when Grandpa was doing chores. I thought the milking machines were fascinating and liked to watch them work.

And I always laughed when Grandpa would squirt milk directly from a cow into the eagerly waiting mouth of a barn cat.

Inside the farmhouse we always had delicious food and, of course, many of those meals were made with milk and dairy products.

I know that’s where my love of milk, butter and cheese started!

Our go-to snack at Grandma’s house was saltine crackers spread with a thick layer of butter. I don’t know why I don’t do that more often now – I need to do it again!

At my own house growing up we also used a lot of dairy. My dad made the BEST milkshakes ever. He liked to use fresh fruit from garden and my favorite was when he would make Raspberry Milkshakes.

And the recipes for the main course meals both at my grandparents’ and at my parents’ house and now in the current day at OUR house have frequently relied on milk and dairy as key ingredients.

Our refrigerator is never without milk, cheese and butter. While we do it just because we love the taste, dairy foods also provide a powerful nutrient package.

Vitamin A, vitamin D and protein, nutrients found in dairy foods, are essential for a healthy immune function.

Not only that, but dairy foods are linked to health benefits like reduced inflammation, improved digestive health and healthy immune systems. Those are all things we want for our family.

Let’s move on to the recipe I want to share with you today. When my sister was pregnant with my nephew, we had her baby shower at the farm. My aunt Doris generously stepped in to make the food, which included a version of this easy-to-make quiche.

I have made this recipe many times since then with a few changes and additions. I love that you mix everything up in one bowl and then just dump it in the baking dish and bake.

Miraculously, the crust drops down to the bottom while baking – don’t ask me how that happens – as far as I know it’s magic!

Sometimes I’ll change up the flavors and use spinach and change up the cheeses to be mozzarella and feta.

Other times I’ll make the recipe below and leave out the broccoli because my husband hates broccoli.

One note is that the recipe calls for packaged biscuit and baking mix, but you can easily make your own with our Homemade Bisquick Recipe.

Since you only need 1/4 cup for this quiche recipe, you could cut down the mix recipe to 1/4 – – OR go ahead and make the full recipe and use the rest to make biscuits or pancakes! By the way, biscuits are a great side with this meal!

This easy cheese quiche recipe doesn’t include a lot of ingredients, with about half of them being dairy. I was able to order them all from Target and have them delivered to my doorstep.

If you have any leftover ham, this is the perfect way to use it up!

Easy Quiche Recipe Variations:

It’s easy to change up this recipe by substituting other meats or vegetables. Just try to keep the quantities roughly similar. You can also make a meatless version by just upping the amount of veggies.

Can You Freeze this Quiche?

After leaving town suddenly and taking a chance by tossing half of the uneaten quiche into the freezer, I can safely say YES, you can freeze it.

For best results store in an airtight container. After bringing to room temperature, simply microwave the portion to be eaten until warm.
