With The Final Shape on the horizon in Destiny 2, the Prismatic subclass being introduced is set to truly upend how you play any existing or upcoming content.

This page acts as a comprehensive breakdown of the Prismatic subclass across classes, and the abilities you'll have available to you.

Prismatic Explained

The Prismatic subclass allows you to wield the powers of Light and Darkness simultaneously, letting you experiment and combine various different abilities that were impossible before.

The following slots will have a selection of Light and Darkness abilities from across the 5 different damage types in the game:

• Super
• Grenade
• Melee
• Aspect

Alongside this, you can tailor your experience further by choosing from all available movement modes, class abilities, and even pick brand new subclass-specific ones including (but not limited to):

• Acrobat's Dodge
• Phoenix Dive
• Thruster

Buildcrafting will continue to expand as you make your way through The Final Shape and unlock more combination possibilities, and will crack open the gameplay experience and allow you to shape your character to the obtusely specific degree that you'd prefer.

Transcendence

As a Prismatic, you'll see a new bar beneath your Super energy meter. These are related to Light and Darkness, and as you deal either Light-aligned or Darkness-aligned damage, these respective bars will fill. Kinetic damage will fill both at a reduced rate, and upon filling both bars, Transcendence will be available.

While Transcendent, your melee and grenade energy are instantly refreshed and regenerate more quickly. Dealing grenade damage will increase your melee regen rate even faster, and vice versa. Alongside these buffs, your weapon damage will be slightly increased, and your damage resistance will be boosted.

While Transcendent, you'll also have a new grenade that deals both damage types, unique to your class. They are as follows:

• Hunter - Hailfire Spike
  • Throw a device charged with Stasis matter and Solar energy that attaches to surfaces or targets and then erupts into a slowing storm. After a short duration, the device ignites, creating a deadly scorching cyclone
• Titan - Electrified Snare
  • Throw an explosive device energized with Strand matter and Arc energy that detonates in a supercharged suspending burst. The suspended target takes heavy damage over time and chains jolting lightning to any nearby targets
• Warlock - Freezing Singularity
  • Throw a mass of Void energy and Stasis matter. On impact, it deploys a miniature black hole orbited by a halo of slowing ice. After a short duration, the black hole implodes, suppressing and dealing heavy damage to all nearby targets
