OSRS Blast Furnace Guide: All Ores & XP Rates Per Hour (2024)

The Blast Furnace is a popular smithing minigame located in Keldagrim. To acquire access to Keldagrim, players must begin the Giant Dwarf quest by speaking with the Dwarven Boatman, who can be found east of Relleka.

The blast furnace has its advantages even though it can be costly: When smithing gold bars, which are unlocked at level 40 smithing, the blast furnace minigame yields the highest smithing experience rates in Old School RuneScape because it can smith your entire inventory of ores at once. Secondly, the Blast Furnace uses only half as much coal as a regular furnace when smithing bars that require coal.

How to get the Blast furnace

The blast furnace is located in Keldagrim, as was previously described. There are several routes to get to the blast furnace:

The quickest way to travel to the blast furnace is via this teleport, which takes you right up to the entrance. However, you must have made at least one prior trip to the blast furnace before using it.

Mine cart from the Dwarven Mines

The Dwarven mines can be found under the Ice Mountain or in the grand exchange, but you need to travel to the Dwarven mine at least once to unlock this option.

Fairy ring DKS

This takes you close to the entrance of the Keldagrim, as shown above.

Running there from Relleka or Seer’s village

You can easily teleport to Seer’s village using runes or Camelot teleport, then follow the path shown above to get to the entrance of the Keldagrim. Using the Relleka teleport is a lot faster, as shown above, you would need to run east to the entrance of Keldagrim; you can teleport to Relleka using a Relleka teleport or by using POH teleport if your house is set to Relleka.

The Official Worlds for Blast Furnace

There are up to 15 Blast Furnace worlds in Old School RuneScape; using these worlds is highly recommended since there are 5 different dwarven, namely: Dumpy, Stumpy, Pumpy Numpty, and Thumpy, who operate the mechanics of the Blast Furnace so you don’t have to. However, the blast furnace requires a 72,000 coins fee per hour when you use any of these worlds. Here are the worlds designated for the blast furnace minigame:

World 352(Germany), World 355(United States West), World 356 (United States West), World 356 (United States West), World 358 (United Kingdom), World 386 (United States East), World 387 (Australia), World 395 (Germany), World 424 (Australia), World 466 (Germany), World 494 (United States east), World 495 (United States east), World 496 (United States east), World 515 (United Kingdom) and World 516 (United Kingdom)

Recommended unlocks for the Blast Furnace

Full graceful: Because the Blast Furnace requires a lot of running, wearing weight-reducing clothes, such as the full graceful, will allow you to save money as you would need fewer stamina potions. The full graceful is obtained by purchasing it from Grace in the rogue's den for 260 grace marks.

Coal bag: This can hold up to 27 pieces of coal, it is a reward that can be bought from the Prospector Percy’s Nugget shop for 100 golden nuggets; golden nuggets can be obtained by searching the sack after cleaning pay-dirt in the Motherload mine. This is very useful when mining or smithing because it doubles the quantity of coal you can carry and allows you to carry ores in the coal bag while training at the blast furnace.

Goldsmith Gauntlets: These are one of the three possible rewards from the family crest quest. They can be obtained by bringing magic steel gauntlets and 25,000 to Avan, who can be found in the Alharid mine. The Goldsmith gauntlets boost the amount of experience gained by smelting gold ore into gold bars by 2.5 times what it would be without them.

Ice gloves: These are quite easy to get. They can be obtained as a drop from killing the Ice Queen found under White Wolf Mountain. When worn, they can be used to cool down the bar dispenser. You will be able to click the bar dispenser to collect your bars in the blast furnace, which would save you time used to cool the bar dispenser using a bucket of water.

How to play the Blast Furnace

Placing the Ores and Coal on the Conveyor belt

Playing the blast furnace is quite easy. There is a bank in the blast furnace that can be used to obtain the items you need for the minigame. You would need to place ore and/or coal on the conveyor belt. After a few seconds, the corresponding bars will be in the bar dispenser. Check below to find the ideal method, amount of ore, and coal to produce a particular bar.

Cooling the Bar Dispenser

Because the bar dispenser will require time to cool down before you can take bars, you will need either a bucket of water or a pair of ice gloves to cool it down quickly enough to get the best experience rates. There is a bucket spawn in the blast furnace, and you can use the water pump to fill it with water, which can then be used to cool down the bar dispenser before obtaining the bars, or you can wear the ice gloves and click the bar dispenser to collect the bars even faster.

Various bars can be made in the blast furnace, and they have different methods of making them, which are listed below; most of these bars are quite profitable when made in the blast furnace, while some of them have lower smithing level requirements, it is recommended that you have at least 60 smithing to avoid paying the blast furnace entrance fee. The profits shown below presume you use full graceful to save money on stamina potions; using the methods below without full graceful will significantly lower the mentioned profits.
