You are offered US$ 50 million to command the forces of Earth against an alien invasion Weekend Era (2024)

If you accept, you will be transported to a highly realistic virtual simulation of Earth. However, the simulation is setup in a way such that you are convinced the simulated beings are not sentient, so there is no concern about killing sentient beings for this. The simulation will not persist after you succeed or fail at defending the Earth against the invasion.

You will be anointed the supreme commander of the Earth's forces. The various national governments and top echelons of the military will listen to your command on military-related matters, such as defense production, troop movement, resource allocation; consistent with wartime. However, people outside the national governments and top echelons of the military may react differently in a realistic simulated manner.

You will be able to command the resources available to Earth for its defense. The US$ 50 million is a personal reward for you if you succeed.

The alien invasion will arrive 6 months after you enter the simulation, +/- 1 week. They will arrive somewhere in the Midwestern United States.

If you repel the alien invasion, you will be returned to the real world and US$ 50 million richer. If you die in the simulation, then you will also die in the real world.

The invasion force will be randomly selected from the following:
5,000,000 B1-series battle droids from Star Wars
A World Eaters force from Warhammer 40,000, consisting of 1,000 chaos space marines, 500 Khorne berzerkers, 300 chaos terminators, 300 chaos rhinos, and 100 berserker dreadnoughts
A legion of sardaukar from Dune
A Swarm from Honkai Star Rail, consisting of 1,000,000 randomly selected stings and 1 Starcrusher Swarm King
1 Core Commander from Total Annihilation

B1-series battle droids (Star Wars)
The B1-series battle droid, also known simply as the B1 battle droid, is a mass-produced combat unit used primarily by the Trade Federation and later by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. Standing at 1.91 meters tall, these droids are humanoid in appearance with a skeletal frame, giving them a somewhat flimsy look. Despite their apparent fragility, they are effective in large numbers due to their sheer quantity and ability to follow orders without hesitation. B1 battle droids are equipped with E-5 blaster rifles, making them capable of providing a substantial volume of fire, albeit with limited accuracy and tactical flexibility.

In combat, B1 battle droids are programmed with basic tactical routines, allowing them to perform a variety of tasks such as guarding, patrolling, and engaging enemy forces. Their artificial intelligence, however, is relatively unsophisticated, resulting in a lack of individual initiative and adaptability. They rely heavily on centralized command from control ships or commanders, making them vulnerable to disruption if these control mechanisms are compromised. Their combat effectiveness lies in overwhelming opponents through sheer numbers, and they are often deployed in large battalions to swarm and overpower enemy forces. While not particularly durable or skilled individually, B1 battle droids are a persistent threat in the hands of a coordinated droid army.

World Eaters (Warhammer 40,000)
The World Eaters are a Chaos Space Marine Legion dedicated to Khorne, the Blood God, in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Renowned for their ferocity and bloodlust, they are relentless in their pursuit of close combat, seeking to spill the blood of their enemies as offerings to their dark patron. A typical World Eaters force includes an array of brutal and fearsome units, each optimized for maximum carnage and destruction.

At the core of a World Eaters army are the Space Marines and Khorne Berserkers. These warriors are fanatically devoted to Khorne and excel in melee combat, wielding chainaxes and bolters with savage efficiency. The Khorne Berserkers, in particular, are infamous for their unbridled rage and bloodthirst, often charging headlong into battle with little regard for their own safety, driven by the singular goal of slaughtering their foes. Supporting these frontline troops are the Terminators, heavily armored veterans who combine their formidable close-quarters prowess with devastating firepower, making them versatile and deadly in any engagement.

In addition to infantry, the World Eaters employ Dreadnoughts—massive war machines piloted by mortally wounded Space Marines who continue to serve Khorne in death. These dreadnoughts provide both heavy fire support and formidable melee capabilities, capable of tearing through enemy lines with their powerful claws and weaponry. Mobility on the battlefield is ensured by Rhinos, armored personnel carriers that transport the berserkers and other units swiftly into the heart of the fight, allowing them to unleash their fury upon the enemy with brutal efficiency. Together, these elements form a cohesive and terrifying force, embodying the relentless aggression and bloodlust that define the World Eaters.

Sardaukar (Dune)
The Sardaukar, the elite military force of the Padishah Emperor in the Dune universe, are renowned for their unparalleled combat prowess and ruthless efficiency. Trained on the harsh prison planet of Salusa Secundus, the Sardaukar are conditioned to endure extreme conditions, resulting in soldiers of exceptional discipline, physical strength, and combat skill. Their reputation as the most formidable warriors in the known universe is well-earned, and they are often employed as shock troops to maintain the Emperor's iron grip on power.

Holtzmann shields, which create a defensive force field around the user, provide the Sardaukar with a significant advantage in combat. These shields are highly effective against projectiles and energy weapons, making conventional attacks futile. However, the slow blade penetrates the shield, a fact that the Sardaukar exploit through their mastery of precise, controlled movements in close-quarter battles. Their enemies, unaccustomed to the disciplined and coordinated tactics of the Sardaukar, often find themselves overwhelmed by their superior strategy and ferocity.

The Swarm (Honkai Star Rail)
The Swarm is a formidable enemy faction in Honkai: Star Rail. They are remnants of the Aeon of Propagation, Tayzzyronth, and manifest as flying, four-winged insect-like creatures. The Swarm faction comprises various enemy types, each with unique abilities and roles on the battlefield. This faction includes powerful entities like the Starcrusher Swarm King: Skaracabaz, which is a synthetic construct, and the Swarm: True Sting, a boss enemy capable of summoning additional Swarm units to overwhelm opponents.

The Swarm's combat strategy revolves around their numbers and ability to propagate quickly, making them a relentless force. Their varied units, from the lesser Juvenile Stings to the more formidable True Stings, utilize coordinated attacks to apply constant pressure on their enemies. These units often deal Wind damage and have abilities that can spawn additional Swarm members, ensuring they remain a persistent threat throughout battles.

Core Commander (Total Annihilation)
The Core Commander from Total Annihilation is a pivotal unit within the Core faction, serving as both the primary builder and a powerful combatant. As a massive bipedal mech, the Core Commander is equipped with an array of formidable weaponry, including a potent laser cannon and the devastating D-Gun, capable of disintegrating any target with a single shot. Its robust armor and advanced shielding systems make it highly resilient, able to withstand significant enemy fire while continuing to lead its forces effectively on the battlefield.

In addition to its combat capabilities, the Core Commander excels in construction and resource management. It can rapidly build various structures, from energy generators and metal extractors to advanced factories and defensive installations. The Commander's versatility in both offense and defense allows the Core faction to establish a strong foothold quickly and adapt to the ever-changing dynamics of the battlefield. Its ability to reclaim wreckage and convert it into usable resources further enhances the efficiency and sustainability of the Core's war effort, making the Commander an indispensable asset in any engagement.
